Marie F. Porter is an experienced accountant who has worked in various accounting capacities for the past 13 years. She spent 8 years working for the State of Florida in several positions. The majority of her tenure with the State of Florida included being a sales and use tax auditor and auditing unemployment tax returns. The last position she held was at a popular South Florida casino, at which she started as a Staff Accountant and received several promotions to include Payroll and Accounts Payable Manager and Accounting Manager.
Marie is the proud daughter of two immigrant parents from the beautiful island of Jamaica. She was born in Miami Dade County, where she currently resides. Her parents have always instilled in her a strong work ethic and encouraged her to go after her dreams, although their dreams were hindered (delayed but not denied) due to their limited formal education and lack of economic resources. Through their love and guidance, she attended the University of Miami, where she earned a Bachelor of Business Administration with a Major in Accounting and a minor in Finance. She subsequently received a Master of Accounting from Florida International University.
